HAZWOPER includes the five types of hazardous waste operations like clean-up operations, corrective actions involving clean-up operations, voluntary clean-up operations, operations involving hazardous waste, and emergency response operations. Employees responding to a hazardous materials emergency, depending on their level of activity, and seriousness of the incident should undergo the First Responder Training- Awareness Level. This enables workers to witness or identify the release of hazardous materials and intimate the appropriate authorities. It attempts to identify the role of a Level 1 responder, recognize hazards involved in an emergency, ensure site control and security, be aware of the nature and harmful effects of hazardous materials etc.
